Cup of Excellence Coffees The cup of excellence is the most esteemed award given out for top coffees. These awards come from a strict competition that selects the very best coffee produced in that country for that particular year. These winning coffees are chosen by a select group of national and international cuppers and are cupped at least five times during the competition process. Only coffees that continuously score high enough are allowed to move forward in the competition. Named after the family farm, this sustainable coffee is grown under tall lush trees and banana plants. For generations, the Valladares family has been harvesting this coffee, using ecologically sound farming practices. This Cup of Excellence possesses a sweet vanilla aroma tinged with hints of mild cherry with a smooth and creamy body for a beautiful finish. #15 - Brazilian "Frazenda Cafundo" These beans undergo a natural washing process, in which the cherry is plucked and laid in the sun to dry. This process, unique to Brazil and a few other countires, delivers a distinct , flavorful brew because the bean is dried without losing its own natural sugars. A cup of Brazilian "Fazenda Cafundo" coffee is wonderfully sweet and creamy with deep chocolate and caramel notes resonating through in a velvety long finish. At an altitude of 4,000 feet above sea level the volcanic soil, crisp clean mountain air and abundant rays of sunshine combine to create the perfect combination for coffee growing. This 100% shade-grown coffee is harvested in lush avian-friendly groves, filled with large banana plants, sugar cane and rich vegetation. A cup of this coffee offers a sweet and syrupy brew with toffee and mocha notes and finishes with a sweet, buttery mouth feel. |
